Originally founded as a charitable organization in the late 1800s and early 1900s, the Neighborhood Association provided many different services over the years. In 1918, Mrs. John Taylor donated the home and property (dating back to the 1860s) at 12 Taylor Street to provide a permanent location for the Association. Though the donation was generous, no funds were given at the time for its upkeep.
