The Neighborhood House Nursery School philosophy, tradition of community service, and curriculum distinguish it from other nursery schools and child care centers in the area.
We offer flexible scheduling for two and a half, three year old, and four year old programs. Classes in a Homelike Environment - The Neighborhood House resembles a home more than a school thus making a child's first break from home easier. Each room is arranged in a homelike fashion offering the individual child a comfortable and supportive environment. Continuity Provided By Dedicated Staff - Our staff of certified teachers and dedicated volunteers from the community have demonstrated their commitment to the school by their long-term service. Diverse Socio-Economic Mixture -The Neighborhood House draws children from different religious, economic, racial, and cultural backgrounds. The children learn to respect the individuality of each culture and appreciate the common ground which all cultures share. Community Involvement - The children take numerous walking trips to places of different interest in downtown Millburn (such as the fire station, American Red Cross, the library and the post office) to gain first-hand knowledge of community life. Extensive Use of Outdoor Facilities - The children play regularly on the fully-equipped NHNS playground or in nearby Taylor Park to exercise and develop large muscle skills. Musical Enrichment Program - A certified music teacher visits the school weekly and uses music to elicit dramatic, musical, audial, and other perceptual responses from the children. Scholarship Program – Full and partial scholarships are available to families with financial needs who live or work in Millburn due to the generosity of the United Way of Millburn/Short Hills. |
