How It Started

Originally founded as a charitable organization to help the
destitute in the late 1800s and early 1900s, the Neighborhood
Association provided many different services over the years. In
1918, Mrs. John Taylor donated the home and property (dating
back to the 1860s) at 12 Taylor Street to provide a permanent
location for the Association. Though the donation was
generous, no funds were given at the time for its upkeep.

How It's Going

Over the years many members of our community have donated
their time, talents, and materials to this building. However, as
our building ages, the cost of maintaining it has increased
substantially. We welcome donations from anyone interested
in helping to maintain this unique and special learning
environment for our children. The Neighborhood House is one
of the last Victorian houses in our community that links us to
our proud past. It is a symbol of our treasured history and we
want to insure its existence for generations to come. Please
help us make this possible.
Please send donations to 12 Taylor Street, Millburn, NJ 07041.
